Harvest Thanksgivings –

The Rev Dr Stanley Monkhouse, Rector of Portlaoise preached an inspiring and challenging sermon in St Paul’s, Cahir on 23rd September. Thank-you, to those who provided the sumptious refreshment afterwards, to Dr David and Maureen Ahearne and her choir for leading the music and to those who decorated the church.
The schoolchildren presented their gifts and recited a poem at the beginning of the Harvest Thanksgiving in Old St Mary’s. The mayor read the 1st reading. Our preached the Very Rev Maria Jansson began ill the previous night and ,so, the Rector stepped into the breach. Geralrd Flynn played the organ and we thank him, the choir, decorators and parents and parishioner who provided a feast afterwards.
Mrs Margaret Kingston preached in Holy Trinity, Fethard on 30th September. Thank-you , to John Tuohy who played the organ, those who provided another sumptious repast after the Service and those who decorated the church. There was some very effective re-cycling done with regard to the floral arrangements between the churches this year.
On Sunday, 30th September, the 5th Sunday Service took the form of a Harvest Eucharist. Decoration were brought by parishioners, we sang joyfully, but went home or to other places for lunch!
